Joshua Williams Selected for Business Relations Specialist
Position with Decide DeKalb / WorkSource DeKalb

(September 2022) Joshua Williams has been selected to serve as Business Relations Specialist for workforce development initiatives with the Decide DeKalb Development Authority and WorkSource DeKalb. The position is designed to focus on connecting employers with talent pools in the metro Atlanta county.

In partnership with DeKalb County, Decide DeKalb works diligently to bring and retain first-class businesses to all parts of the county. Once a company settles in DeKalb, the Business Relations Specialist will work alongside the employer to identify workforce initiatives such as recruitment and training resources.

WorkSource DeKalb provides programs to enrich local talent pools to prepare aspiring business owners and employees with competence, confidence and skill sets that appeal to world-class industry leaders. The two organizations have formed a partnership to help better address the needs of the county’s talented workforce so that they may better serve and participate in the area’s target industry clusters. Advance DeKalb, Decide DeKalb’s 501(c)3 division, provided funding for the role.

“Joshua brings his experiences of working in the private sector to the table for our organizations,” according to Randi Mason, Vice President of Economic Development for Decide DeKalb. “He understands the dynamics of connecting the talent pipeline in our area with existing and new companies. A trainable workforce is one of the key components of economic development and we are confident Joshua will make significant strides in the role.”

Williams is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He currently serves as SaaS Sales Development Representative with Xplor Technologies. Williams has also worked as Business Development Manager for East Central Georgia Workforce Consortium in Thomson, Georgia, and Career Development Specialist for the CSRA Regional Commission in Augusta, Georgia.

“Representing Decide DeKalb and WorkSource DeKalb is an honor,” Williams said. “I am excited to become a part of both of these teams of professionals. I look forward to working with businesses who have invested in DeKalb and those who will do the same in the future.”

Both programs are funded through federal and local governments, including the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners, and local business partnerships.

“Joshua will play a pivotal role in meshing together the economic development and workforce development goals of DeKalb county,” according to Robert Davis, III, Interim Director of WorkSource DeKalb. “The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), implemented locally through WorkSource DeKalb, provides funding to help unemployed and under-employed Americans, including youth and those with significant barriers to employment, into high-quality jobs and careers and help employers hire and retain skilled workers. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with skilled workers. Joshua has a clear understanding of WIOA through his previous experiences in east Georgia and is prepared to begin connecting businesses with potential employees.”
