MADE In DeKalb Educator Fellowship Application

Manufacturing and logistics represent some of the fastest-growing and most innovative industries in the United States—yet they also face one of the nation’s largest skills gaps. A major reason is perception. Many students simply don’t realize the high-tech, high-opportunity careers available in modern manufacturing and distribution.

The MADE In DeKalb Educator Fellowship bridges this gap by connecting educators with the companies, technologies, and career pathways shaping the future of these industries.

This year, educators from DeKalb County School District and City Schools of Decatur are selected to participate in this yearlong fellowship. Through hands-on experiences, fellows gain a deeper understanding of the advanced manufacturing and logistics sector so they can better prepare and inspire their students.

The fellowship begins with a weeklong immersive introduction to DeKalb’s manufacturing and logistics ecosystem. Fellows will:

  • Tour innovative manufacturing and logistics facilities
  • Hear directly from industry leaders and workforce experts
  • Explore technical education and college pathway programs
  • Connect with fellow educators in collaborative roundtable discussions

Throughout the school year, fellows reconvene quarterly to share insights, discuss progress, and collaborate on a small project designed to connect classroom learning with real-world industry opportunities.

Upon completion of the program, fellows receive a $1,000 stipend to recognize their time and participation, helping offset travel and incidental expenses.

The MADE In DeKalb Educator Fellowship empowers teachers with the knowledge, relationships, and real-world insight needed to help students discover exciting career possibilities—many of them right here in DeKalb County.
